Biography
Jason Stajich is a Professor in the Department of Microbiology & Plant Pathology at the University of California – Riverside. His research team studies fungi focusing on study systems of human lung pathogens, extremophiles in dry environments, zygomycete and chytrid fungal genomics, and most recently mycoviruses. The work has included building bioinformatics tools to support phylogenomics and comparative genomics, microbiome analyses, and genome annotation. The current projects are exploring the genomic and phenotypic diversity of Rhodotorula fungi collected from a range of extreme environments, evolution of the pan-genome of Aspergillus fumigatus, and DNA mycovirus discovery in chytrid fungi.
