The following one-day workshops will bring together scientists to share advances on specific fungal species and topics. Don’t forget to submit your abstract for inclusion in these workshops.

The workshops will be held in the Convention Centre Dublin (CCD) on Sunday 2nd March 2025.

The registration fee for each workshop is €145.00. The fee includes coffee breaks and light lunch served in the CCD.

The 21st International Aspergillus Meeting (Asperfest21) will take place on 1 – 2 March 2025. The meeting will include the Pontecorvo Lecture, delivered by Dr. Axel Brakhage of the Leibniz Institute for Natural Product Research and Infection Biology and Welcome Reception on Saturday evening 1st March in the Gibson Hotel, Dublin, followed by talks and posters on Sunday 2nd March in the Convention Centre Dublin (ECFG17 Conference Venue). Participants will share current research on Aspergillus species. In order to submit an abstract for this workshop, you must use the main ECFG17 abstract submission portal, you will be asked to define what workshop you wish to be included in during the submission process.

The Asperfest21 organisers would like to thank their sponsors, Novonesis and CropLife International

The Colletotrichum workshop will take place on 2 March 2025. The purpose of the workshop is sharing knowledge, exchange of expertise and new advances on the genus Colletotrichum. For this, we are welcoming oral contributions of 20 minutes covering all aspects of fundamental and applied research including but not limited to genetics, pathogen-host interactions, evolution, taxonomy, genomics and secondary metabolites. Participation of PhD students and young researchers is particularly encouraged.

Chairs – Ricardo Baroncelli, Katsuma Yonehara, Michael Thon

The Fusarium workshop will take place on March 2, 2025. The purpose of this workshop is the lively exchange of expertise and current research on the genus Fusarium. For this, we are welcoming oral contributions covering all relevant aspects including but not limited to genetics, gene regulation, functional genomics, evolution, taxonomy, genome dynamics, host-pathogen interactions, secondary metabolites as well as genetic exploitation for applied and industrial mycology. In addition to regular oral communications, several abstracts will be selected for 5min flash talks, which will be presented in the workshop programme.

Chairs – Fiona Doohan, Antonio Di Pietro, Yong Zhang

The Neurospora workshop will take place on Sunday, March 2, 2025. We are looking forward to a day of talks and discussions on all of the new developments in Neurospora research, covering all aspects from basic to applied science. Contributions on other Sordariales, such as Sordaria and Podospora are also very welcome. Oral presentations will be selected from the submitted abstracts. Students and post-docs are especially encouraged to present their work!

Chairs – Luis Corrochano, Andre Fleisner

The Symposium on the Basal Fungal Kingdom will be held as a satellite meeting of ECFG17, to which we would like to bring together people of all fields interested in the basal fungi of the kingdom (Mucor, Rhizopus, Phycomyces, Chytrids, Microsporidia, Rozella). We are very much looking forward to a day of talks and lively discussions on all the new developments in this versatile group of fungi, covering all aspects of genetics, genomics, host-fungal interactions, endosymbiosis, antifungal resistance, physiology and secondary metabolism. Abstract submission is through the main ECFG17 abstract submission portal.
